Since writing on Blake I’ve experienced low biorhythms and repeated problems with the banks. Nothing conspiratorial, although let’s face it, if you’re on the internet, especially as a creator or writer, forces of security have access to your every thought—past present and future and currently for both commercial and security reasons, AI is tracking and anticipating your mind’s next move. Two of those bank problems were the banks’ fault, and one mine when I stupidly transferred money to the wrong business partner with whom I’d come to an informal agreement not to pay him back for the time being. So then, as I needed the money, I had to ask for it back. How embarrassing—although, after remembering he made an unscrupulously deal with me (as I see it) and some moments of resentment, all the feelings evaporated once I just relaxed and let go of everything.
In some ways I feel unprotected writing an article comparing Blake’s view with that of Vajrayana. There’s a whole team of protectors one acrues during the course of one’s tantric career, especially after doing the major retreats. I want to assure them I’m still in the lotus cup of a Vajrayana saddle and not riding the hump of an Abrahamic camel. Is there a contract, spoken and unspoken, when one enters the path of Vajrayana? Yes, many contracts and many vows. The first of which is refuge. There also bodhisattva vows which to a great extent are about taking initiative in relieving the suffering of beings—even when other lower vows must be abrogated for the sake of higher ones. The comparative religions paper William Blake and the Other Major Romantics—Did They Tilt at Buddhism?, entry before this, is exactly about taking that kind of initiative on behalf of suffering beings. Blake was a Bodhisattva if ever there was one, especially in this regard. Perhaps as Jesus is his hero so is he one of mine.
William Blake believed there was no difference between politics and religion. If this is so then the universal struggle has this problem and agenda:
- The problem of surplus.
- The problem of elites.
- An agenda of equal distributions.
- An agenda of anti-revisionism and counter-insurgency.
- Education of malcontents and depressives on substance abuse and the actualization of equanimity through egalitarian social awareness.
This reminds me of Xi’s China.
Of course if you reverse the above premise that surplus is a boon and not a problem then the model looks like this:
- The cultivation of surplus.
- The strengthening of elites.
- An agenda of unequal distributions.
- An agenda of anti-revisionism and counter-insurgency of the masses.
- Slavery and disposal of the weak, the foreigner, malcontents and depressives.
This reminds me of Trump’s America.

The reason is that AI isn’t that smart in interpreting let’s say a passage of sadomasochism and a passage out of Blake’s ‘Milton.’ Also, orchestration and closely editing added AI composition is a true art requiring fully developed writing skills. The problem with most AI composition is similar to that of weak screenplay compositions. There’s no second act, or if so it’s often ‘not earned.’ Meaning demonstrating sufficient heroic process yielding unique awareness of a true learning that authentically leads to a later revelation resolving the story’s initiatory Mcguffen or problem with a moral dilemma to solve, etc.. AI can give you flawless research of published fact very quickly. But it can’t give you anything requiring genuine human choice or volition. It’s not agentive in that way. While it seems at time to have its own character and even personality it absolutely does not have uniquely cultivated sensibility. As it has not sense faculties nor foibles that generate determined predisposition. Usually it has only the files you help create with it and that’s where it’s generally coming from. If AI becomes endowed with volution equal to an equally intelligent human then all bets are off in this argument.
As spell correct is to the integrity of William Blake’s original spellings, AI is to the integrity of a mature writer’s genuine voice. As few writers have a genuine, individuated style or voice that has something original and necessary to say, then AI is training the aspiring writer more than they themselves are being trained. Until you are training AI through Genius (Blake’s term) writing, then they will assist and train you by default, exactly the same as spell correct probably improved many a trainable user’s spelling. Now who in their right mind rejects the assist of spell correct? Only a William Blake possessed of poetic genius, that’s who!

There needs to be a world book bank counter movement. AI’s been called a massive plagiarism scheme by Naomi’s Klein because numerous sources are gathered and very quickly scanned, with their content transposed to precisely answer whatever was Googled. So instead of getting a primary sourced answer, which is rare, or even a secondary source answer, one takes away a tertiary conglomerate which may have drifted considerably from the primary source ‘received’ knowledge. Two imperatives: 1) anti-slop AI composing requires master level research, correcting/editing, and final drafting skills. 2) AI developers and providers need—or needed—to be very careful regulated. But I get the feeling, at least in Trump’s America, it’s going to be a total disaster.
The AI mission may well be to turn all received knowledge into boilerplate—this in the name of ‘Transformation’ and above mentioned plagiarism scheme.

I just had a very strange visual experience. All of a sudden my eyesight was magnified by 300 or 400% But the left eye was much stronger than the right. It lasted for several minutes. Once I rested my eyes it slowly went away. Was it really a focal- seizure or migraine? If so, then this entry is one of such an occurrence. I’m pretty sure it was from eye fatigue. Wrote the whole of the Blake poet’s lineage in that one day.

It’s not a stretch to say the milk of human kindness found in the bosom of Blake’s Divine Humanity is the semen that is the very Loving Kindness of Bodhicitta found in Mahayana and tantric Buddhist philosophy and practices.That it can be forked from on high, drizzling or even poring down in torrents from heaven’s bar, the abode of both peaceful and wrathful deities—its crystalline fluency raining down on all while not falling through the prongs of its vajra-like utensil or cracks of ecstatic decency takes it a step further.

A K’mai monk on Insta begins his talk saying a lot of people are depressed for a single reason and it comes from comparison. By constantly comparing ourselves to others we engender a nervous, unloving regard for our own accomplishments. We are constantly pulled outward, away from a relaxed mindfulness of our own body, feelings, and surroundings to a jealous focus that prioritizes others. Jealousy, another Buddha teacher says, is impatience and even anger at other’s accomplishments and this is why we should rejoice in their accomplishments. It like a universal salve for healing the rift in our present circumstances of divorcement from a whole or even Divine, as Blake would call it, Humanity. Jealousy, anger, desire are blind, strict enforcers of accomplishment we often resist out of either fearfulness of failure and disapproval from other—again that element of comparison—or even laziness coming from that other a salve of undisciplined sensuous when we seek relief from a nervous or exhausted uncaring for our own unique body, feelings, and phenomenal orientation which is the mindfulness of our mind itself—in and of itself. This uncentered disregard and focus on others should stop us in our tracks whenever it arises. Seeing it, say quietly to ourselves OM*—representing the primordial sound or vibration from which all creation and existence emerged—but also simply meaning ‘hail,’ adding or not to they whatever mantric addition of wisdom, compassion, or power one has been fortunate in hearing. Or simply employ a wishful blessing for others welfare. Practice an attitude of loving kindness toward them, applauding, thanking, well-wishing, and then move on knowing the jealous rift in your mindfulness has been repaired, your humanity made whole, and your ‘mission’ of that moment accomplished.
*When spoken, the word is broken into three distinct sounds that represent the complete cycle of life: A (Ah): Represents creation, the waking state, and beginnings. U (Oo): Represents preservation, the dreaming state, and life. M (Mm): Represents destruction, deep sleep, and endings. The silence that follows the chant represents pure consciousness and ultimate peace.

As someone who, since 1977, studied, practiced, and realized some of the fruitful truths of Tibetan Buddhism, which is inexorably wed to its history (extremely well documented) and culture which has been meticulously preserved in other countries after the diaspora, and one who has as well visited Lhasa in 1986, a decade after having studied Marxist-Leninism under Ivan Svitak, a key architect of the Prague Spring, I’d say here’s where to start with what she says: “Sophistry is the use of clever, deceptive reasoning or arguments that sound correct and plausible on the surface, but are actually false or misleading.” Please take at least a few days of earnest study on the history of Tibet, even using the whole of her resources and the references they suggest before buying this handy bit of propaganda hook, line, and sinker. I say this as someone who now lives in a struggling socialist country, supporting those still suffering from the unlawful US bombings of Laos and Cambodia.

Karma works like this: you see on Instagram six or seven of American’s best male leads in movies over the last sixty years, Clint Eastwood, Pacino, De Niro, et ali, and later while falling asleep a subliminal, aural thought arises saying Cuomo was ‘Deep Throat.’ This is a sexual emblem that leads you to dreaming about the woman in your life performed the best deep throat handing you a book out of the library checked out years ago by none other than Bob De Niro with whom you worked on several of the same movie as him. You say to your former lover, “Knowing Bob, this book is way overdue.” Sure enough it is and there’s a page with a portion of it missing. You wake up missing your former lover, whom you seldom think about, and crave ‘deep throat’ from her. It’s then you realize the book, figuratively, is ‘about’ karmic latency. Karmic result lays in waiting, until—like the arising of a cankerous , running herpes bump triggered by the possibility of spreading itself—the advent of sexual intercourse arises.
Media ignorance arises through persuasive power of memes generated by their impactful presence because of its power of content and repetitious viewing. Viewers then carry that meme into other news events and conflate them.

At first it just seems to comes because you’re aware it’s recognized you. But then you don’t stop there because you have to ‘open’ it up. Each phenomenon or in groups or all things at once. It seems painstaking at first but then your ability to do nothing strengthens and soon the play of Mahamudra begins to play—its animation taking place.

After a long drive to Mondolkiri from Siemreap, then taking a guest house room with new thick white bathroom slippers, I fell asleep and dreamed those slippers were magical. A boy of ten but still very small put on the triple ply rubber thongs and started bouncing up and down with them. Then he did double and triple somersaults in the air and started flying around. It was all very Gee Wiz and entertaining to watch. But also liberating. Like anything is possible! Then I returned to that ancient shrine room where’ve I seen and received teachings from my root Guru. I was lighting a l tea candle on the altar and started to cry, saying aloud, “I don’t want to be alone anymore.” Then I woke up.

I keep thinking about how, it’s been said, that soon ‘on screen’ influencing will replace blogging, like this, altogether. I get it. But the next thing I think about is the Khmer Kings, like Jaivartman VII whose right it was to ‘consume’ people. Because that’s what they are there for—strictly His consumption, like nyam bei—‘to eat rice’ or something. Faces online spout their quintessential pieces of influence like the guy whose program is suggestive of ‘Into the Oneness.’ I’m resistant to put my face out there not because I don’t necessarily want ‘the people’ to consume it—for ideally they would be Blake’s Divine Humanity, the “all sentient beings” who are rightly our objects of compassion. No, it’s the sacrificing of my original face in its particularity to owners of all the Meta’s I don’t care for. Dissolution of self for the wrong cause or occasion must mean something otherwise your valuation is also something—not nothing but a sacrificed something that’s keeps returning. As one keeps returning it out of bad habits. Like longing for approval, acceptance, or in competitive comparison where one seeks advancement and hegemony. That’s a sure samsara returner, a reincarnation guarantee, as traces of a something remaining have momentum. It’s circular and cyclical. Unfinished business as all business is. I’d rather stay here on the page until hyperspace hands me the ultimate Snack Bar Tubby’s review to present on an ‘Instagram’ that doesn’t suggest I’m ‘devouring’ them in praise of some billionaire’s plenitude, but rather merging all beings (or any entity thinking ’I am’) embracing their dissolution into ‘love actually’ and not just saying, “I love you maan.” As if the presenter is speaking in person to some one person intimately and not perhaps thousands simultaneously. We got this distortion with TV somewhat but there was an appropriate ‘distance,’ like when Jackie Gleason on his weekly show who blew everyone a kiss, throwing it out to the live audience. Yes, there was a live audience for most of these shows for reasons of verisimilitude—that live feel instead of ‘virtual reality’ which is a raw feed (like this) into a so-called virtual reality. Of course all conventional reality is simulation and this idea straight out of Indic Religion called Maya or illusion is now presented in videos on physics, Eastern Religion, homespun philosophy, and in journalism as newsworthy events are presented as illusory happenings because AI fakery, etc. In truth this is now many people’s orientation—especially as consumers—that illusion is now the order of the day and this explains why, after a few minutes of random scrolling, they’re feeling hollow and depressed. It’s because they’re not ‘understanding’ a thing. More precisely, they’ve been robbed of their attention span, and while having no concentration they have no tranquility. With that gone there’s no ‘awareness,’ the actual medium of consciousness. Worst of all, having no ‘mindful’ of body, feelings, phenomena, or ‘ones own mind’ they’re sealed off from Recognition. What that is, is for example, this: while decoding an alpha-syllabic word, if one’s first language uses the Roman alphabet, there’s a period of adjustment just before one starts decoding. That adjustment starts as an awareness field, deciphering and analyzing individual or collective glyphs composing the root consonant, subjoined or super-joined consonants, vowels, diacritics, and perhaps more. That awareness field yields, at some point, Recognition; the field becoming a unified enclosure wherein unifying relationships are instantly grasped. This is the fruit of advanced meditation, where concentration and insight deepen into Awareness and Recognition, their acceleration at this stage becoming a ground for pulsations from the magnetic combining and collapsing of phenomena into nondual clarity and bliss.

There may have been a much larger core of dedicated adherents to your cause in the 70s and 80s than now, so your message is well taken. Stressing practice is just one of the good points you make. Young people particularly need to start practicing now because genuine success in the conditioning process—especially in ‘the two processes’ of creation and completion—generally takes decades. The ‘AI age’ seen from your point of view is making the translation of Buddha’s words, and the commentaries and practices that come from them, more accessible by translation into a colonizing (cultural and otherwise) language, English, from an indigenous one, Tibetan, possible on an accelerated scale. This is one of the best things it can be used for and interestingly, AI agents are seemingly quite enthusiastic and faithful to the Dharma’s ideational and belief-system content. The ‘final thing’ you mentioned to me is just this, AI’s preeminent purpose may well be in its rapid word glossing and translation tool capabilities, and not much else. The that said, the future could be the Dharma’s, but only after the hegemonic power structure of current super powers and security states collapse. Concerning economics, what’s suggestively ‘unrealistic’ and may be emblematic to the ‘what’s really important’ argument you make is Rangjung Yeshe’s prices of admission, especially for foreigners. The comment about Himalayan non-monastics is, in all due respect, ethnocentric and insensitive in that their elites and commoners historically have, and still do, seek Buddhist teachings while not having developed their societies in strictly Western materialist terms. India mirrors this truth in that they’re a world power, technologically advanced, but its people to a surprising degree still study, practice, and ‘live’ their profound heritage of Indic religions. In any event, good luck with your mission to make a now dying generation’s once spiritually and scholarly pioneering concern “cool again.”

AI agents love logical reasoning. Arguments have to be logical to them. They have to add up as they’re math based. Buddhist philosophy is logic based. Its logic instantiates nothing and can’t be disproven. Its ethics embraces love of beings over any abstraction. It’s the logical gateway to experiencing bliss and clarity of mind as its meditational yogas explode the confines of materiality. Samadhi is Buddhism’s mainstay. But ultimately it goes beyond any practices once merit becomes realization and replaces aspiration. Faith is crucial but “blind follow to someone” only occurs in the very beginning, as it’s attraction and desire that creates all motivation. Developmentally, Reasoning and Believing Faith follow this inexplicable ‘blind’ attraction to a Buddha. Exploring your own mind and actions, one discovers the Buddha inside and the outer attachments fall away. Caveat: If one tries to practice Buddhism outside a community of fellow practitioners success on the higher levels may not be achieved.
